Not long ago, I welcomed a lovely couple from the United States who came to Estepona for a one-month holiday. As part of assisting them with settling in and enjoying their stay, they asked me for two things: a good gym and a place to play pickleball in Estepona.
While pickleball has been growing fast in the U.S., it’s still a relatively new sport in Spain, and very new in Estepona. Their request inspired me to learn more, and now I want to share what I found, because if you’re looking for a fun and accessible paddle sport on the Costa del Sol, this might be exactly what you need.
What Is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It’s played on a smaller court with a low net and solid paddles, making it easy to learn and gentle on the body.
This makes it ideal for:
- Seniors and retirees
- Active travelers
- Families
- Beginners looking for a social, low-impact activity
Although pickleball in Spain has been gaining recognition over the last few years, Estepona only joined the movement recently. In fact, one of the local tennis clubs started offering pickleball as a new playing option about a year ago, making it the first place in Estepona where you can officially enjoy the sport.
Where to Play Pickleball in Estepona
If you’re searching for where to play pickleball in Estepona, there is currently one venue in town that offers the sport: a well-known tennis club that has added pickleball to its range of activities. Whether you’re a local resident or just visiting the Costa del Sol, it’s a great place to try the game or keep up your practice.
If you’d like the exact location or want to connect with others who play, feel free to contact me, I’ll gladly help you get started.
Why Try Pickleball on the Costa del Sol?
